Class Descriptions

- Adult Education Literacy (ABE, Pre-GED, GED)
- These classes provide instruction in reading, writing, math, science and social studies for adults needing a high school equivalency. Classes are divided into three levels: ABE (grade levels 0-4), Pre-GED (grade levels 5-8) and GED (grade levels 9-12).
- Citizenship
- Adults born in other countries who want to become citizens of the United States may prepare for the exam by participating in citizenship classes.
- College Transition
- Adults planning to enter college may receive advanced instruction in math, reading, writing, and science to further develop these skills before attending college.
- Computer Literacy
- Many programs offer classes to help adults develop their computer skills from basic to advanced levels. Classes include instruction in keyboarding, file management, word processing, spreadsheets, and the Internet.
- English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
- These English classes are for adults born in other countries who need to improve their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in English.
- Family Literacy
- These are class offerings for parents who want to develop their parenting skills. There are classes in which parents and children attend together.
- Pre ESOL
- Adults with limited English language ability can take classes in reading, writing, math, science and social studies in their own native language.
